FEMSA: FEMSA and its Business Units support affected communities in Tabasco and Chiapas

FEMSA issued the following announcement on Dec. 7.

Continuing with its commitment to create social value in the communities where it is present, FEMSA and its Business Units have supported the communities of Tabasco and Chiapas affected by floods with more than 45 thousand liters of beverages, more than 6 thousand food pantries and more than 40 thousand face masks for the population, the health sector and collaborators. Likewise, as part of Contagia Solidaridad, made up by FEMSA Foundation and OXXO alongside other strategic partners, protection kits will be delivered to Red Cross personnel in Tabasco.

Specifically, OXXO has donated 9,972 hydrating products that were delivered to the DIF Cunduacán in Tabasco, to the Department of Civil Protection of the same state, and to the Tabasco Traffic and Police Department. The company handed 1,500 food and beverage coupons to the Tabasco Department of Public Safety, as well as 200 coffee thermos. OXXO also gave cleaning kits to the City Council in Support of the Tabasco People. It also delivered 6,400 bottles of water to the Department of Civil Protection, equivalent to 5,000 liters of water; 8.5 tons of humanitarian aid to Tabasco’s DIF, equivalent to 900 pantries; and 7,600 face masks to the State Health Secretariat. Through OXXO’s Customer Rounding Program, the company also delivered 238,552.54 pesos to the Dr. Osuna Foundation, and distributed 475 pantries and 340 hygiene product kits to OXXO collaborators in Villahermosa who were affected by the floods.

Committed to the community, the next few weeks will be delivering more than 33 thousand masks to the Secretary of Health of Tabasco, as well as pantries for the municipality of Comalcalco, Nacajuca, Centla and Macuspana, in support of the Tabasco people.

Coca-Cola FEMSA, alongside Food Bank of Mexico, handed 3,500 food pantries in the State of Chiapas and, alongside the Secretariat for Economic Development and Competitiveness of the State of Tabasco, Civil Protection and Villahermosa’s DIF, delivered 30 thousand liters of beverages for collection centers for people in need. The bottling company also plans to donate 2,500 groceries to Tabasco families.

Contagia Solidaridad (Infect Solidarity) was born as a response to COVID-19, adding Juntos por la Salud’ and ‘Mexico x Mexico’. To date, with the support of Solistica, a FEMSA company, it has delivered protection kits to more than 90 thousand members of the health personnel throughout Mexico.

FEMSA, its Business Units and FEMSA Foundation have the mission of creating social and economic value, which is why they and their collaborators carry out emergency actions to support the communities to which they belong.
