PEMEX: PeMEX workers' health status report and PEMEX workers affected by COVID-19

Pemex issued the following announcement on Nov. 6.

Petroleos Mexicanos (PEMEX) reports that an insured population of about 750 thousand people (among workers, retirees and family), today there have been 26.504 people with respiratory symptoms to which there have been 17,073 diagnostic tests, with which 7,984 have been ruled out and 9,089 cases of Covid-19 confirmed. Additionally, from the review of suspected cases, it has been possible to detect antibodies against SARS-CoV-2 in 665 people, and an epidemiological association has been identified by methodological review of 4,333 people, for which a total clinical-epidemiological association has been confirmed of 14,087 Covid-19 cases.

The rest, 4,433 are considered suspicious cases with respiratory data that do not fully meet the operational definition of Covid-19, with minor manifestations.

The referred methodological review obeys the update of the epidemiological surveillance guideline that defines "case confirmed by epidemiological association" to any person who meets the operational definition of a suspected case of Viral Respiratory Disease without a laboratory sample and who has had contact in the 14 days prior to the onset of symptoms with a confirmed case or death.

Of the 14,087 confirmed cases of Covid-19:

12,146 were discharged, which represents a recovery percentage of 86.2%.

237 remain in home isolation.

89 in hospitalization in an isolated ward.

28 are in intensive care. So far, 160 patients who entered intensive care have been discharged home.

In adherence to the policy of the State productive company, that workers are the most valuable asset, the comprehensive prevention strategy against Covid-19 has managed to contain the spread of infections among workers. Unfortunately, to date, 348 deaths have been registered in active workers, 723 in retirees, 509 in family members and 7 outsiders.

Through the "PEMEX Closer to You" campaign, we bring health services closer to retirees and family members to advise and monitor our patients without having to leave home. Health professionals maintain contact, remotely, with beneficiaries to attend and provide medical follow-up to patients.

Currently, 17,596 beneficiaries have been attended by videoconference, among which 5,470 have been identified with respiratory symptoms, 1,181 advice for prescription filling, 4,217 mental health care and 6,728 various ailments.

PEMEX recognizes the responsibility, discipline and solidarity of the entire oil community in the face of the current contingency, especially the medical personnel of its Health Services for their great work to benefit the health of the company's greatest asset: its employees and their families.
