CEMEX: CEMEX participates in second largest vehicle storage building in the world

Cemex issued the following announcement on Aug. 17.

CEMEX, S.A.B. de C.V. (“CEMEX”) (NYSE: CX) announced today that it supplied more than 70,000 cubic meters (approximately 91,500 cubic yards) of specialized concrete for the construction of Park Garage, the second largest vehicle storage building in the world, with the capacity to house up to 10,000 vehicles.

Located in the Mexican Port of Veracruz, the site allows Park Garage to achieve an optimal capacity for the storage and transfer of vehicles destined for export and import. With a height of 22.7 meters, this large facility’s six levels have a total extension of 125,000 square meters, an area equivalent to the combined size of 30 soccer fields.

"We supplied specialized high-resistance concrete that offers the most advanced technology designed to avoid corrosion. Our concrete’s permeability enables this massive vehicle storage facility to counteract the severe salinity conditions that prevail due to its proximity to the sea," said Ricardo Naya, President of CEMEX Mexico. "Park Garage is yet another example of our ability to offer the highest quality products and services designed to meet our customers’ most demanding requirements."

Park Garage is the second-largest vehicle storage building in the world, just behind a facility located in Singapore, and the largest in Latin America. The codes of automobile transport ships inspire both its design and volumetric massiveness.

For the execution of the work, CEMEX installed a Vince Hagan type concrete batching plant, characterized by its loading capacity, which reaches a daily average of 500 cubic meters. The company also provided up to 12 mixer trucks on site to distribute the concrete throughout the complex.
