U.S. President Donald Trump and Mexico President Andrés Manuel López Obrador met with business leaders from both nations last week to discuss economic issues amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
"Tourism is one of the sectors that should occupy the current government the most since many families in our country depend on it, and activating this sector will be the trigger for the gears of the economy to begin to move," Olegario Vázquez Aldir, general director of the hotel company Grupo Empersarial Ángeles (GEA), said in a press release.
GEA has a large stake in tourism in the Mexico. It says its hotels will offer clean and secure facilities to tourists despite the pandemic.
"This meeting will serve to unite the two countries even more. Mexico and the United States together are stronger," Vázquez Aldir tweeted.
During the meeting between the two presidents, members of the United States steel industry discussed expansion into Mexico and the energy infrastructure company Sempra revealed its plans to construct a gas factory in Baja, California.
