Arca Continental S.A.B. de C.V. issued the following announcement on Feb. 19.
Arca Continental, one of the most important Coca-Cola bottlers in the world, signed in Argentina its adherence to the Principles for the Empowerment of Women of UN Women (WEP, for its acronym in English). These principles are focused on key elements for the promotion of gender equality in the workplace, in the market and in the community.
The accession became effective in line with 5by20, the global program in which Arca Continental participates with the Coca-Cola Company to train and empower 5 million women by 2020. In this way, the company seeks to continue with the implementation of programs that promote the UN Sustainable Development Goals and strengthen the presence of women throughout their value chain.
Arca Continental, together with Coca-Cola, has promoted training for women within its value chain through the Power Mexico programs, Uncovering your Entrepreneurship in Peru, Start Together in Ecuador and Boost Your Business, all aligned with the 5by20 goals.
Through these programs, Arca Continental reaffirms its commitment to promote the development of the communities where it operates and to promote best practices in gender equality, women's empowerment and inclusion.
