Pemex issued the following announcement on Nov. 8.
In order to strengthen and assist in the improvement of health and education services in 11 municipalities of Tabasco, the general director of Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex), Octavio Romero Oropeza, led the start-up of four Mobile Medical Units that will offer periodically general medical, dental and mastography studies. In addition to delivering school equipment for 68 schools of the entity.
During a work tour through the municipality of Cárdenas, Tabasco, the head of Pemex said that the above is part of the Support Program for the Community and Environment (PACMA) of Petróleos Mexicanos and represents an initial investment of 52.4 million pesos ( mdp). "With these supports, Tabasco is given some of the great wealth he has contributed to the country and with the construction of the new Dos Bocas refinery, economic growth in the entity will be triggered," he said.
Romero Oropeza symbolically delivered furniture for 307 classrooms, whose investment was 13.9 million pesos.
Likewise, the Mobile Medical Units will offer consultations in various oil municipalities of Tabasco, whose initial investment will be 38.5 million pesos. He said that, in this way, the company endorses its social commitment to the communities where it operates and expresses its support for the Tabasco population.
On the other hand, he said that within the strategy to raise crude oil production, Tabasco is considered a relevant entity, since most of the new fields developed by Pemex this year are located on the coast and land of this region.
Regarding public safety, health and education, he said that from December to date there are 122 completed works whose investment has been 421 million pesos. Currently, Petróleos Mexicanos executes another 41 social responsibility actions and in the next months another 50 actions will begin to improve the environment of the surrounding communities to the areas in which Pemex is active.
The event was attended by the state governor, Adam Augusto López Hernández; the municipal president of Cárdenas, Tabasco, Armando Beltrán Tenorio. As well as state officials: José Antonio de la Vega Asmitia, secretary for Energy Development; Guillermo Narváez Osorio, Secretary of Education; and Carlos Manuel Merino Campos, state delegate of Programs for Development of the State of Tabasco. On behalf of Pemex, the Corporate Director of Administration and Services, Marcos M. Herrería Alamina; Rodolfo Lehmann Mendoza, deputy director of Health Services; Carlos Pérez Téllez, deputy director of Southern Region Production; and the Social Responsibility manager, Orlando Camarillo Ruiz.
