BRITISH CHAMBER OF COMMERCE IN MEXICO: Perspectives and Opportunities in Mexico for the Fourth Transformation

British Chamber of Commerce in Mexico issued the following announcement on Sept. 13.

On 3rd September, the Chamber had the honour of receiving the Secretary of Finance and Public Credit Dr Arturo Herrera for a breakfast-conference to discuss Perspectives and Opportunities in Mexico for the Fourth Transformation. The breakfast was organised by the British Chamber and supported by the European Chambers of Commerce and the Australian & New Zealand Business Council (ANZMEX).

Secretary Herrera spoke unguardedly and insightfully about both the international and Mexican economy as well as the efforts his government is making to ensure economic stability and growth in times of global uncertainty. He spoke with optimism about the United States–Mexico–Canada Agreement and the efforts his government is making to improve access to credit, encourage saving – especially for pensions - and increase transparency reducing the country’s cash dependency through QR coding. He generally spoke positively about Fintech and its ability to fill the gaps in the financial sector, a message the chamber supports and welcomes.

Such a lively and candid dialogue was made possible by the Secretary’s openness to take questions unrestrictedly from the audience as well as skilful moderation from Chamber Treasurer Armando Nuricumbo.

The Chamber would like to thank the European Chambers, ANZMEX, Armando and, above all, the Secretariat of Finance and Public Credit for making this excellent event possible.
