Grupo Bimbo issued the following announcement on July 9.
As part of the Professional Services Management Awards event, held in England to reward best practices in information technology, Grupo Bimbo and the professional services firm EY México received the award ITIL Experience Award: Collaborating For Success, which rewarded the innovation of the Digital Transformation Services Strategy that was implemented globally in all the IT operations of the world's largest bakery, as well as the excellent teamwork between both companies.
The project is characterized by the transformation of global support services and the systems that support the operation of the company, as well as the tactics used to reduce the overall support and maintenance costs of its applications and an increase in the satisfaction of its users.
The so-called Digital Transformation Services Strategy, executed by both global companies, emerged as an approach to evaluate Grupo Bimbo's IT services and their alignment with business objectives. EY contributed with the integration of best practices, evaluation of service providers, and the definition of the transformation plan to the new model of Application Maintenance Service, which considered the methodological framework of Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) principles as a basis.
“This was a job where professionals from both organizations collaborated in a strategic and innovative way that was oriented to customer success, where commitment and teamwork were factors that prevailed and that materialized in this achievement of international reach,” noted Emilio Díaz, Lead Partner, Consumer Products and Retail, EY LatAm North.
Additionally, Rubén Márquez, Global CIO at Grupo Bimbo, commented: “Innovation is part of the way of working at Grupo Bimbo, therefore we are constantly implementing new strategies that adhere to international standards and contribute to the achievement of business objectives, which allow us to deliver digital services to our operations. Working with EY we achieve an exceptional result”.
The project was presented before the jury of the Professional Services Management Awards, which awards the best Information Technology practices. The contest enjoys wide international prestige. Participants in the contest must demonstrate the success of their projects with the use of at least three of the nine guiding principles of ITIL, as well as provide examples of effective collaboration between individuals or multiple teams.
The ITIL reference framework is the most used globally by those organizations that seek to add value to their IT services management.
