Mexico Lucha Libre wrestling advocacy group calls for political responsibility

Members of the freestyle wrestling advocacy group Mexico Lucha Libre recently publicized a missive to the Mexican public demanding accountability from political candidates, arguing for a better-informed nation with transparent governance and honesty evoking greater legal compliance.

Representatives of the nonpartisan group — known for their colorful masks and stylized maneuvers in traditional freestyle wrestling matches — announced that Mexico Lucha Libre possesses both sufficient mass and muscle to monitor politicians, their goal being “to end corruption and impunity in our country.”

Pleading for future elected leaders to remain dedicated to Mexico’s future politically, socially and economically, members decried irresponsible decisions and actions such as mishandling funds, and neglecting public safety and sustainability. Additionally, they called for the formation of brigades designated specifically for anti-corruption and environmental stewardship purposes.

“We will promote partnerships … monitor and support our institutions (and) be attentive and vigilant,” spokespersons stated.

Mexico Lucha Libre listed its goals as a fairer economy, better education and overcoming impoverishment to attain a higher quality of life for all Mexicans — as well as the desire to “finally banish all those vices that impede social and economic development (for) Mexico.”

“(We) ask you in this dramatic and desperate moment for our country (to support) our movement for the sake of your children and the future of the nation,” the group concluded.
