The COVID-19 pandemic and rock-bottom oil prices have put Mexico’s electric vehicle industry through challenging times, but electric vehicles still have value, the founder and CEO of Mexican company eZERO told NotiPress, according to a news release.

Electronic vehicles aren’t desirable just for the strategic business and sustainability they offer, but for the customization that can be included, Derek Hall told NotiPress in an exclusive interview.

The company’s electric vehicles have “a very simple architecture and are extremely practical platforms,” the founder said.

eZERO also understands the programming of battery management systems in Mexico, which gives it a competitive advantage for the commercial vehicles it sells, Hall said.

eZERO also allows customers to test the vehicles before they buy them, whichl helps them understand managing logistics and distribution.

“Not many large OEM [suppliers] will be able to offer such a practical approach to the customer,” the Canadian-born Hall said in the interview.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, eZERO is focusing on helping companies understand the advantages to electricity over gas, including social responsibility and consistency with environmentally friendly practices, the news release said.

“The main focus will be educating companies on the benefits of electricity and the support we can give,” Hall said according to the press release.
