Cemex issued the following announcement on May 9.

The CEMEX-Tec Award announced today that it would continue to accept high-impact project proposals in sustainable development from entrepreneurs and social innovators from all over the world until May 31, 2019, after receiving more than 600 proposals to date.

Since the award’s inception, the CEMEX-Tec de Monterrey Center for Sustainable Development has received 2,700 registered proposals from 44 countries in America, Europe, Africa, and Asia, from which 99 projects won awards benefiting 73 communities through social enterprises.

In the 2019 edition, the award has already received more than 600 applications from 30 countries. The winning projects will gain access to funding, specialized workshops, and networking spaces.

“We are pleased that our second global call for high-impact projects has given us the opportunity to strengthen and reinforce our innovative connection with more than 30 countries on four continents in terms of shared value and social innovation, offering us the ability to contribute to the great global challenges established in the UN Sustainable Development Goals,” said Martha Herrera, Corporate Director of Social Responsibility at CEMEX and Director of the CEMEX-Tec de Monterrey Center for Sustainable Development.

The CEMEX-Tec Award annually recognizes entrepreneurs and students who create high-impact proposals and innovative projects in the field of sustainable development.

The CEMEX-Tec Award 2019 is divided in four global categories: Transforming Communities, aimed at undergraduate and graduate students with community sustainable transformation proposals; Social Entrepreneurs, aimed at entrepreneurs with projects that solve social problems and encourage systemic change, with potential to become a social business; Community Entrepreneurship, aimed at organizations, foundations, cooperatives or civil associations with productive projects of social transformation; and Collaborative Action, aimed at organizations with social impact projects implemented through multi-sectorial partnerships.
