In a press conference with President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, the CFE informed the Rehabilitation and Maintenance Program for the generation recovery of the company's owned plants.

Likewise, the President of the Republic stressed that his new energy policy in the field of electricity is aimed at strengthening the CFE, since in previous years the generation plants owned by the company were left behind, which have presented a deliberate deterioration Therefore, it is now sought to maintain 54% of the participation in the CFE's own generation in the Wholesale Electricity Market, which seeks to guarantee the supply of electricity in the country and avoid increases in the price of electricity to the consumers.

For its part, the CFE represented by its Corporate Operations Director, Engineer Carlos Andrés Morales Mar, reported that the CFE has 157 own generation plants, with an effective capacity of 42,000 MW. To date, 325 of the 596 maintenance planned in 2019 have been executed at these plants, which has allowed the recovery of more than 4,700 MW that were unavailable due to failure or decrease due to the lack of investment in the generation infrastructure. The CFE estimates that by the end of this year, the recovery of the generation capacity will be 5,900 MW.
