Genius Sports Group granted full rights to Mexican soccer

Genius Sports Group has been granted full exclusive rights to all Mexican soccer events as the official long-term data, streaming and integrity partner for Liga MX, the governing body for premier competitions in Mexican soccer.

As a result of the agreement, Genius Sports Group will handle all capturing of live data in-stadia and distribution to licensed sportsbook operators across the globe, according to a Genius Sports Group press release.

"Our league grows in every aspect, development, innovation and the expansion of our international profile are our fundamental pillars," Enrique Bonilla, executive president of Liga MX, said in the release. "This alliance with Genius Sports Group will help us reach, through data, more fans around the world. It is important to highlight that Genius Sports Group integrity programme will provide real-time alerts for betting related issues, which strengthens our commitment to transparency."

The new partnership follows close on the heels of the newly-established business combination agreement between Genius Sports Group and dMY Technology Group II, Inc., according to the release. That agreement has helped Genius Sports Group to "drive its expansion as a leading provider of official data and technology powering the global sports, betting and media ecosystem," according to the release.

"As one of the highest quality, most passionately followed leagues in world soccer, we are delighted to be supporting Liga MX at such critical stage of its global growth," Sean Conroy, Genius Sports Group commercial director, said in the release. "Our long-term partnership will deliver value for Liga MX and help to connect Mexican soccer with fans around the world while providing sportsbook operators with security of supply and premium new streaming content."

Genius Sports Group currently reaches 150 countries across the globe, and is partnered with more than 500 sports organizations, according to the release.
